Story Time Favorites

If you know me, you know I am a book fanatic. From the start I have always planned to make my children love books as well. So far, I’d have to say, I’m doing a good job! Lucy loves book. She follows them and you can tell she is really engaged. She loves turning the pages and she always laughs along and has so much fun. We have a lot of different books, but of course she has her favorites.

The Going to Bed Book and Moo Baa La La La by Sandra Boynton is her two absolute favorite. Sandra Boynton is probably one of our favorite children’s book writer. We love reading all kinds of books, but I feel like it helps when we read familiar books for bed. Following our bedtime routine has always been a priority, so reading the same few bedtime books works well to keep her in routine.

The Lost My Name book is one of our all time favorites. It’s specialized with Lucy’s name so she can read a story that’s made just for her. You go through an adorable adventure find each letter of their name, meeting cute friends along the way. It doesn’t get any better than that! [Use my code clever_xttiyamc for 15% off your order!]

A couple other similar, personalized book companies are “Put Me in the Story” and “I See Me” which are both equally as awesome. I haven’t had the chance to use either company before, but I have friends and family who have used both and they love them. I plan to use them in the near future, so I’ll keep you updated!

If you’re a monthly subscription person, there is a new book subscription club Bookroo that we just love. For just a small fee you can get 2-3 books per month. (3 cardboard books or 2 regular books.) We like this company because they send unique books that we’ve never heard of, and not just the classics that everyone expects. You can make it age appropriate for your child and cancel anytime. It’s really the perfect box for finding new hidden gems. [Use my code ‘FOOT’ for 15% off your first subscription!]

There is a fantastic blog I follow, Mundie Kids, and it gives you great reviews for virtually any book you want. I love taking a quick look at the ratings before purchasing books I randomly came across and don’t know much about. It’s also a great way to find new books that are popular and top rated. It’s a win, win.

I’ve said it before, and will say it again. If you don’t have a library card, you should go get one now. It’s free and gets you more than just books. You can rent all kinds of things, from movies and seasons of shows, to books on tape and now even laptops! Also, be sure to get your annual Discovery & Go pass. You can read more about that on my past post here. I’ve always been a fan of local libraries and this just makes it all that much better!

Also, San Francisco hosts an annual Book Fair at Fort Mason where books are anywhere from $1-3 and everything drops down to $1 the last day. I always love going here and stocking up good reads for me and now Lucy. I had so much fun picking out books for Lucy before she was born last year. I can’t wait to take her this year! Most cities host some sort of Book Fair similar, so check your local listings and find one near you! (Also, on the steps of the Main Public Library hosts a weekly book sale similar every Wednesday afternoon. We love stopping by on our way to the Farmer’s Market right there.)

We spend a lot of time reading in our family, so we’re always on the look out for new books! What are some of your family favorites? Would love to hear from you! Like, comment and share!
