Lately I’ve been kind of obsessed about eating seasonally & locally. I figured, I have some free time during the day to hit up different farmers markets, so why not? And I have to admit, once I started, I was totally hooked! Not only do you get super fresh produce but the farmers markets have so much more than you would ever know! Think meats & fish, cheeses, nuts, bread and even honey! With so much delicious ingredients grown locally, we really are spoiled! So why not take advantage of it?

I am so excited we got to go to The Museum of Ice Cream this past week. This place is heaven. If you like sugar, ice cream and pretty things, then this is your kind of place. We took so many fun photos and had such a wonderful time, so of course I had to make a post about it!

I’ve waited a whole year for this weekend: Fort Mason’s Annual Book Sale!! This is one of my favorite places to be. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I love books!
I first started going to the book sale a few years ago. I always loved it but after finding out we were pregnant, it became even more special to me. This is a tradition I look forward to continuing with Lucy for many years to come.

Bedtime routines are so important to babies and young kids. Heck, even adults benefit from a bedtime routine. According to studies most babies will be receptive to a schedule around 6-8 weeks, but it’s never to early to start. A proper bedtime routine can aid in calming your little one and prepare him or her for a good night’s sleep.

It’s important to always have enough “you” time, otherwise even the best of us can loose it. No one in your family benefits from a tired, worn out, frustrated mother. Sometimes it can be hard to let go and take some time for yourself (at least it is for me), but it’s so important for our well being and our family. There is nothing selfish about leaving the kids with dad for a couple hours to go get a mani/pedi or go to the gym. So many of us feel guilty when it comes to “me time”, but that should never be the case!

I’m sure we’re all familiar with this scene: You’re trying to change your baby on the changing table and your little one has a different idea. They are playing, wiggling, and fighting to get free from the dreaded changing table. It takes all your energy to keep them on their back just long enough to get their butts cleaned, then they’re flying past you trying to swan dive off the table again. Exhausted and defeated, you throw the pants on the floor and say “just forget it”.

Starting solids can be an exciting, yet stressful time for you and baby. Most moms start the transition to solids somewhere between 4-7 months, but it’s important to look for signs that your baby is ready to start solids. You never want to start them too early. Some of the signs you can look for are:

First off, I want to start with an apology for being off the grid the past two weeks. I feel terrible about missing my weekly post and updates on my social media sites, but between a vacation, hospital visit and some family issues, things have been a bit hectic around here. I meant to have this post up the week after the cabin, but life got in the way, so here we are.

Having a newborn is a tough time for most parents. Especially if you’re a first time parent. There are so many products on the market these days, it’s hard to know what you actually need and can get away without.
