Having a newborn is a tough time for most parents. Especially if you’re a first time parent. There are so many products on the market these days, it’s hard to know what you actually need and can get away without.
As you all know, I love being prepared. Which meant I went a little crazy when building my registry and preparing for Lucy. I registered for multiples of things (carriers, nursing covers and diaper bags) because I couldn’t decide which things would be best for our baby. I was comfortable and felt prepared when Lucy arrived, but looking back I now can see I could have lived without a lot of those things I thought I needed.
However, there were a lot of things that I couldn’t have lived without during those first few months. When you’re in the thick of it, it’s always nice to know you’re fully prepared and ready for anything. Here are some of the things we clung to dearly when Lucy was a newborn:
My Boba Wrap was such a lifesaver in those first few months. She was a bit colicky, so wearing her around the house was usually my only means of silence. We got several carriers and wraps, but the Boba Wrap was my favorite for that newborn time.
The Boppy Pillow is a staple for every new mom’s registry. Not only does it make feeding time easier for you, but it can also transition into a tummy time and sitting pillow as well. We still use ours, 10 months later! Such a good investment!!
The Baby Brezza Formula Maker is pretty ridiculous if you ask me, but I’ve heard from a few moms that they couldn’t live without it. If you choose to not nurse, or aren’t able to, this could save you a lot of time when it comes to preparing bottles.
Milkscreen Alcohol Test Strips are a breastfeeding mom’s best friend! If you’re like me and like to have a glass of wine (or two) some nights, then these test strips are a must have! They’re so easy to use and really take all the guessing work out of deciding if you’re okay to nurse or not. Just saturate the pad, wait 2 minutes, then see if the pad has changed colors or not. (Déjà vu??) If it has, then wait an hour or two to nurse.
